ABOUT THE BOOK

ABOUT THE BOOK

I’m a big fan of vines growing on things in the city and my favourite is vines on poles (the leafy holy grail).

Lamppost, utility pole, street sign, and even the humble backyard clothesline post—put a vine on it and it goes from boring eye-clutter to fun on a literal stick. It’s nature saying, “I see what your intention is, but what if I also made it into a weird tree?”

In the summer of 2023, I decided to see how many I could find within an on-foot radius of my place in Brockton Village, Toronto. The answer was over four-hundred.

This book contains eighty-one vines, each with their own personality and charm.
